For the first time in Iraq, and under the guardianship of Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College, the “First International Exhibit for Girls in the Field of IT & Communication” was opened at the Conferences Hall on Sunday 24th April 2022.
It is remarkable to note that the Exhibit has been organized by the Students Activities Division with the Rehabilitation, Employment & Follow-Up Unit, in addition to the Women Empowerment Unit. Both Deputies of the Dean, Assist Prof. Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi and Assist Prof. Dr. Munthir Fadhil have attended the Opening Ceremony.
It should be noted as well that a number of institutions, including the Vocational Preparatory School for Girls in Babylon, Al-Nisoor Primary School, Al-Mas Company, Aswar Company, the Industrialists Representative and many other leading companies have actively participated in the Exhibit.
A seminar on “The Information Technology at the Current Era” has been organized during the Exhibit with participation of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Skeiki, Representative of the Professional Guidance & Development Association, Prof. Dr. Sattar Badr Sadkhan, IEEE Representative, Prof Dr. Asmaa Shakir Ashour, member of Federal Service Council, in addition to Assist Prof. Dr. Hidhab Khalid Ubayis and Assist Prof. Dr. Inas Hamoud Mheisin.
There have been several workshops indeed on Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, and female students projects at the Computer Engineering Department, which all lead to achieving Sustainable Development Goals. Besides, a competition among female students for their projects have been arranged, and the best have been selected and rewarded.
A Job Fair in the field of Information Technology has been organized by Al-Mas Company, presenting meanwhile modern Technology Programs with the participation of Aswar Company. Professional programmers and technicians have had a role clarifying the importance of this field in the scientific arena, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Smart Homes, Internet of Things (IoT), and Distance Learning / Education.
The Exhibit aims in general to raise female representation in the field of Technology, creating gender equality in gaining opportunities in the related area.
The Exhibit has been appreciated and well received by everybody for the distinguished efforts that have been exerted by Al-Mustaqbal University College to make IT available to everybody, and thus building stronger communities and economies, while addressing the most pressing challenges, opening horizons in line with rapid development of Technology.
