Department of Radiology at Al-Mustaqbal University College Seeks to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals

One of the outstanding participations of the MUC Radiology Department has aimed to achieve the following goals:
1. Every child shall live & flourish;
2. Achieving food security and improving child nutrition;
3. Protecting children from obesity and non-communicable diseases that are related to diet system.
For the purpose stated above, an applied scientific study under the title
“Preventive Procedures to Confront Overweight & Obesity Among Children and Adolescents in Babylon Governorate”
The authors of the study are Dr. Asmaa Hassan Muhammad and Dr. Zaid Saad Abid Madhi, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Ali Hamoud Al-Saadi, University of Babylon, College of Sciences.
It is considerable to note that overweight and obesity have started to spread among children as well as adolescents until age of 19. Such phenomenon has been quite obvious everywhere in the world. Statistics confirm that about 40 million children below age of 05 suffer from overweight, i.e. almost 6% of this category. Moreover, it is estimated that more than 340 million children and adolescents between 5 – 19 years old do suffer from overweight. Such number indeed constitutes 18% of this age category.
