The First Scientific Forum of Water Sustainability and Climate Change

Under the patronage of Al-Mustaqbal University College’s dean, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi and in accordance with the college strategy which entails (Towards a Sustainable University).
The first scientific forum was held under the title (Water Sustainability and Climate Change) on Saturday May 28, 2022. The key themes of the forum were:

First: Climate change considering the outcomes of Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, presented by Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel-Zahra Al-Lami, expert and consultant for environment and climate change affairs - the Council of advisors at Council of Ministers.

Second: The proactive water policy presented by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sabri Ibrahim, Senior Political Adviser - Ministry of Water Resources.

Third: Towards a hydrological scheme to Iraqi water security (studying the middle and lower Euphrates Basin), presented by Prof. Dr. Kazem Musa Muhammad Al-Tai, former Dean of the College of Basic Education, University of Mosul.

During the forum, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi (college’s dean) has introduced several scientific additions such as describing the global water challenges.

Furthermore, the forum has witnessed great interactions from the attendees such as Q&As.

It is noteworthy that there were many local delegations and academics, most notably the director of planning for Babylon, Mr. Khaled Al-Salihi, the general director of Babylon’s environment directorate, Mr. Makki Hadi Al-Shamri, the assistant governor of Babylon for agriculture and water affairs, Hassan Al-Birmani, and an academic delegation from some Iraqi universities. The forum was coordinated by Dr. Munther Fadel Hassan, assist dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College.

in the closing of the forum, a set of recommendations and scientific proposals were developed for the relevant organisations and bodies to achieve the goals of the forum.
