Under the Guardianship of His Excellency Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, the Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, with the Slogan “Role of Engineering Research in Service of National Economy & Achievement of Sustainable Development”, and in cooperation of Al-Mustaqbal University College, Midland Refineries Company, and Petroleum Research & Development Centre, the Engineering College at Al-Nahrain University has organized the Third International Conference for Engineering Sciences during the period 14 – 15 December, 2022.
It is considerable to note that the Opening Ceremony has been guarded by Eng. Mr. Ammar Musa Kadhim, Mayor of Baghdad, in addition to Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Sattar, the Vice President of Al-Nahrain University for Administrative Affairs. Besides, a large number of academics and researchers have attended the Conference Opening Ceremony.
The Conference has commenced with a Speech delivered by Dr. Basim Obaid Hassan, Dean of the Engineering College, being the Chairman of the Conference Preparatory Committee, in which he has emphasized the importance of Scientific Research as well as the Engineering Conferences, and their essential role in finding solutions to the problems facing Petroleum Sectors and Industry in general. In his speech, He expressed his sincere thanks to Al-Mustaqbal University College for its efforts and active participation in organizing the Conference.
After that, the Speech of Al-Mustaqbal University College has been delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Essam Kamil Salih, a Consultant at the College Deanship, and as a Representative to its Dean, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi. He has stated that the College Participation in the Conference comes as part of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding that has been concluded with Al-Nahrain University, according to which conferences, seminars, and workshops are to be organized in cooperation between the two Institutions, referring meanwhile to the distinguished achievements that have been accomplished by the College.
During the First Session, two lectures have been delivered. The first entitled “Critical & Analytical Thinking and its Role in the Advancement of Scientific Research, Education and Knowledge”, has been delivered through the Internet by Prof. Dr. Muthanna Al-Dahhan / Missouri University of Science & Technology / USA, whereas the second lecture, which is entitled “Water Situation in Iraq: Challenges, Problems and Possible Solutions”, has been delivered by Mr. Hatem Hameed Hussein, General Manager of the National Center for Water Resources Management.
It is remarkable to note as well that an Exhibition for Graduation Projects has been organized during the Conference, and the Opening Ceremony of this Exhibition has been attended by Assist Prof. Dr. Essam Kamil Salih, the Consultant at UOMUS Deanship, Prof. Dr. Alaa Dhari Hussein, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Tariq Jawad Kadhim, Head of Research & Studies Unit.
We should also note that 84 Research Papers within 7 topics have been submitted during the 13 sessions of the Conference, four on the first day, and nine on the second.
Finally, the Closing Session has included the Reading of Recommendations, appreciating the Participators, and a Certificate of Appreciation has been submitted to Prof Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College for the active participation of the College scientifically and administratively, being received by Assist Prof. Dr. Essam Kamil Salih.
