It is considerable to note that Al-Mustaqbal University, being represented by the Directors of Scientific Affairs, Quality Assurance, and International Classifications, has participated in the Central Workshop on Shanghai Ranking / Academic Ranking of World Universities that has been organized by the Authority of Scientific Supervision & Evaluation, including Departments of Quality Assurance, Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance, hosted by University of Baghdad with wide participation of Public and Private Universities in Iraq.
During the Workshop Sessions, Shanghai Ranking Criteria have been widely investigated, focusing mainly on Academic and Research Performance, such as number of Research Papers published at Top-Ranked International Journals as well as the Teaching Staff Quality, especially those who have won World- Wide Awards. Besides, the Workshop has also analyzed the position of Iraqi Universities at this Ranking compared to Regional and International Universities, in addition to reviewing the Challenges all along with the Opportunities available in order to improve their performance.
It is worth noting however that the Workshop has emphasized that the Teaching Staff shall be encouraged to publish their Academic Papers at Reputable Journals, and Forming Multidisciplinary Research Teams that would have an active role in the promotion of Research Quality as well as increase of Scientific Citations in a way that shall reinforce the University Status at International Rankings. Among other recommendations that have been raised at the Workshop have been the plausible procedures required to provide Permanent Financial Support to Researchers.
Finally, we are obliged to note that Al-Mustaqbal University Representatives have strongly confirmed their keenness to continuously working on the improvement of Academic & Research Performance, as part of the efforts exerted within the University Vision, which focuses in one of its aspects on the achievement of Academic Excellence and Leadership at both Local and Global Levels, and thus strengthening its position at International Classifications.
