Under the guardianship of Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College, and in his presence with an elite of academics, in addition to groups of students from the Chemical Engineering & Petroleum Industries Department, a scientific symposium was organized on 24th April 2019 at the Conference Hall located in the Medical Building under the title
“Types of Packaging with Polymeric Materials and Others”
The first lecture has been given by Ms. Zahra Hameed Muhammad, an academic at Al-Khawarizmi College / University of Baghdad, in which she has emphasized the “Importance of Smart Packaging” so as to ensure the safety of the product, registering the required information and extracting air from canned materials to reduce oxygen and prevent reproduction of toxic bacteria.
It is quite necessary to pay attention to the components of canned materials, and encourage for purchasing goods stored in healthy conditions, or those packaged through the use of new technology that are rich with natural components and less preservatives.
A second lecture has been given by Assist. Prof. Dr. Thul-Fiqar Karim Al-Ibrahimi, in which he has focused on “The Effect of Polymeric Materials on Environment”, clarifying the ideal methods for using polymers positively in permanent and daily needs. It should be noted as well that these materials are low-cost, durable and resistant to changeable climate conditions. Finally, these materials can easily meet the requirements of daily life.
At the end of the symposium, the Dean of the College, Prof Hasan Shakir Majdi has honored the lecturers with Shields and Letters of Appreciation acknowledging their role in the field of research and constant encouragement for scientific and cultural exchange between Iraqi universities.
