AMANI MOHAMMED ABD MUSLIM Chemical Engineer | Environmental Research Specialist Location: Iraq Email: [email protected] | Phone: +964 773 529 0782 RESEARCH & PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVE Dedicated Chemical Engineer and Environmental Research Specialist aimed at developing advanced, sustainable technologies for industrial and petroleum-related wastewater treatment through the integration of photocatalysis, nanomaterials, and Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs). Committed to advancing research in reusable photocatalytic materials, visible-light-driven environmental remediation, reactor engineering, and energy-efficient water-energy technologies. PROFESSIONAL PROFILE Strong expertise in petroleum refinery wastewater treatment, environmental engineering, process optimization, and applied chemical engineering research. Holds a Master’s degree (MSc) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Al-Qadisiyah, focusing on photocatalytic oxidation, nanomaterial synthesis, and slurry photoreactor design. Proven track record in achieving significant reduction of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) using titanium dioxide/zinc oxide ( TiO 2 /ZnO ) composite nanocatalysts optimized via Response Surface Methodology (RSM), leading to publication in a Scopus-indexed journal. EDUCATION Master of Science (MSc) in Chemical Engineering University of Al-Qadisiyah, College of Engineering, Iraq | 2023 – 2025 Master’s Thesis: Refinery Wastewater Treatment using Photocatalytic Oxidation Assisted by Catalytic Nanomaterials. Designed, fabricated, and operated a bench-scale slurry bubble photoreactor for petroleum refinery wastewater treatment. Synthesized and characterized TiO 2 /ZnO composite nanocatalysts active under UV radiation. Investigated key operational parameters (catalyst dosage, pH, reaction time) on Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) reduction. Applied Response Surface Methodology (RSM) using Minitab and Design-Expert for experimental design and process optimization. Conducted rigorous material characterization (XRD) and water quality analysis (COD, BOD, pH, turbidity). Evaluated treatment efficiency and Specific Energy Consumption ( kWh/m 3 ) to determine process feasibility. Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemical Engineering University of Al-Qadisiyah, College of Engineering, Iraq | 2011 – 2015 KEY RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENT Photocatalytic Treatment of Petroleum Refinery Wastewater Successfully engineered a novel photocatalytic process using composite TiO 2 /ZnO nanocatalysts in a slurry bubble photoreactor under UV irradiation. Applied RSM optimization to maximize COD removal while minimizing energy consumption. Optimal Catalyst Dosage: 1.25 g/L of TiO 2 /ZnO Optimal pH: 9.0 Reaction Time: ~103 minutes COD Removal Efficiency: 80.7% (Average: 80% – 82%) Specific Energy Consumption: 25.5 kWh/m 3 RESEARCH PUBLICATION Al-Aessam, A. & Al-Temmimi, H. (2025). "Assessment of photocatalytic process using composite photocatalysts for COD reduction for Al-Dewaniyah petroleum refinery wastewater: RSM approach." The Eurasia Proceedings of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (EPSTEM), 37, 37–50. Scopus Indexed, DOI: 10.55549/epstem.1184 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Chemical Engineer & Research Lead Led technical research initiatives focused on petroleum refinery wastewater treatment and environmental compliance.
