President of Al-Mustaqbal University Holds High-Level Bilateral Meetings on the Sidelines of the UNIMED General Assembly at the University of Barcelona
Barcelona, Spain On the sidelines of his participation in the UNIMED General Assembly 2026, held at the University of Barcelona, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, held a series of high-level meetings with prominent academic figures, officials, and university leaders from across the region and around the world. The meetings brought together: • Prof. Joan Guàrdia Olmos, President of the University of Barcelona, the host institution; • Mr. Marcello Scalisi, Director of the Euro-Mediterranean University Union (UNIMED); • Dr. Kherieh Rassas, President of UNIMED; • Prof. Hmaid Ben Aziza, Secretary-General of UNIMED; • Dr. Mustafa Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Aydın University; • Ms. Katerina Wolfova, Head of the Middle East, North Africa and Gulf Unit at the European Commission; • Mr. Massimo Gaudina, Special Adviser at the European Training Foundation (ETF); and • Mr. Roger Albinyana, Director of the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed). The meetings also included a number of presidents and representatives of Arab, Italian, Spanish, and Lebanese universities participating in the General Assembly. Discussions focused on exploring opportunities for joint academic and research cooperation, strengthening the exchange of expertise, and promoting academic mobility for students and researchers.
