Al-Mustaqbal University Sets a New Roadmap for Advancing Scientific and Academic Performance

Al-Mustaqbal University discussed mechanisms for advancing scientific and academic performance and strengthening its institutional presence during an expanded meeting chaired by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, in the presence of Professor Dr. Tarek Jawad Kazem, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, along with a number of directors of departments and units at the University Presidency The meeting focused on moving beyond monitoring achievements toward building a more effective work system based on setting priorities, measuring outcomes, and analyzing performance indicators, in line with the University’s commitment to sustainable development and enhancing competitiveness The discussions addressed several areas related to scientific research and academic publishing, local and international partnerships, university rankings, as well as programs for developing the capabilities of students and graduates and aligning educational outcomes with the evolving needs of the labor market The University President emphasized the importance of translating academic and scientific partnerships into measurable joint projects and programs, while continuing to support applied scientific research and directing it toward real-world issues capable of generating tangible scientific and societal impact The meeting also discussed ways to enhance the role of the Department of Science and Technology Parks and strengthen its connection with the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, contributing to the development of more effective pathways for connecting researchers with the public and private sectors, utilizing scientific outputs, and transforming them into value-generating projects The meeting’s directives emphasized the adoption of periodic analytical reports as a tool for monitoring progress and identifying strengths and areas for improvement, enabling more accurate and proactive decision-making during the next phase This approach reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to establishing an institutional culture based on planning, measurement, and continuous development, while enhancing the integration of its scientific and academic activities in support of its pursuit of excellence and strengthening its presence in the local and international higher education landscape

Al-Mustaqbal University Documents Its Global Achievements with Advanced Statistical Indicators for 2025 and 2026

Al-Mustaqbal University has continued to strengthen its academic and research presence at both the local and international levels, achieving advanced results in a number of international rankings, sustainability indicators, and research performance metrics The indicators showed that the University ranked first in Iraq in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Rankings, placing in the 201–300 global band among 2,526 universities. The University also ranked first in Iraq in the THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2026, placing in the 251–300 global band The University further ranked second in Iraq in the QS Sustainability World University Rankings, placing in the 1401–1500 global band and 524th in Asia. In the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, it ranked third in Iraq, achieving 166th place globally and first among Iraqi private universities In terms of the Sustainable Development Goals, the University recorded notable results, most prominently ranking 51st globally in SDG 7, which focuses on Affordable and Clean Energy. It also entered the 201–300 global bands for SDG 6 and SDG 4, and the 301–400 global band for SDG 3 In research excellence, the University's publications indexed in Scopus reached approximately 6,717, while its H-index rose to 95. The number of researchers contributing to the University's global research output reached 1,034, in addition to 550 research publications recorded during 2026 up to the date of the latest update These indicators reflect the growing presence of Al-Mustaqbal University in research, sustainability, and international rankings, and reaffirm its commitment to strengthening its academic and scientific impact in line with the requirements of modern higher education and the Sustainable Development Goals

President of Al-Mustaqbal University Strengthens Academic Partnership with UWE Bristol

As part of its efforts to strengthen international academic cooperation, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, visited the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) in the United Kingdom to learn more about the international training program designed for the university’s students in the fields of digital systems and artificial intelligence During the visit, the University President presented the Al-Mustaqbal University Shield to the representative of the academic leadership at UWE Bristol in recognition of her role in supporting the training program and developing students’ skills Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing their cooperation and expanding academic, training, and research partnerships in ways that serve students and enhance their readiness for the demands of the global labor market

Al-Mustaqbal University Records 21 New Papers Indexed in Scopus in One Week

Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new research milestone by registering 21 new scientific papers in the global Scopus database during the period from August 21 to 27, 2026, according to the bibliometric and statistical analysis conducted by the university on its weekly research output The President of Al-Mustaqbal University noted that the analysis results showed that 76.2% of the indexed papers, totaling 16 papers, were published through open-access models (Gold, Hybrid, and Green). The average number of researchers per paper reached 7.29, reflecting the growing level of collaborative research The medical field ranked first among the disciplines with 9 papers, followed by Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology with 7 papers, Engineering with 5 papers, and Computer Science with 4 papers, in addition to research contributions across several other scientific disciplines At the level of international collaboration, research partnerships extended to 10 countries, led by Egypt, Iran, and Saudi Arabia, alongside China, Jordan, Pakistan, Türkiye, Hungary, India, and Malaysia, in addition to continued collaboration with a number of Iraqi and international universities The research papers were also published by leading global scientific publishers, including Nature Research, Elsevier, and Frontiers Media, reflecting the growing presence of the university’s research output in international databases and scientific journals This achievement reaffirms Al-Mustaqbal University’s continued efforts to strengthen its research standing and enhance the presence of Iraqi researchers within the global knowledge ecosystem, in line with its commitment to advancing scientific research and expanding international academic partnerships

Under the gracious patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the direct supervision of the Department of Scientific Affairs, the department organized a specialized scientific workshop in cooperation with the College of General Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University. This activity was held within the framework of enhancing scientific integration between departments and colleges and supporting purposeful academic activities The workshop aimed to develop the scientific and research capacities of the participants and to highlight the importance of employing medical knowledge in the service of scientific research and sustainable development. It also sought to promote academic awareness of the importance of institutional cooperation among different disciplines The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members, researchers, and individuals interested in scientific affairs. It included scientific sessions and constructive discussions that contributed to enriching knowledge and exchanging scientific expertise This workshop is part of a series of activities that the Department of Scientific Affairs is keen to organize in cooperation with the university’s colleges, in support of the scientific and research mission, in consolidation of Al-Mustaqbal University’s leading position in the academic field, and in line with its orientation toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals

The Scientific Affairs Department organized a specialized workshop titled “Voting Mechanism in the QS World Ranking”, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote academic awareness of modern trends in global university rankings The workshop included a comprehensive explanation of the QS World University Ranking, covering its definition, methodology, main criteria, and the key indicators used in evaluating universities internationally. It further highlighted the importance of scientific research as one of the fundamental pillars of global rankings, in addition to discussing reliable research sources and their role in supporting the institution’s academic reputation and increasing its research output The workshop also addressed the significance of voting in the QS World Ranking, explaining its impact on strengthening the university’s academic reputation and how feedback from academics and specialists contributes to the ranking outcomes, ultimately helping improve the university’s regional and global standing The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion session that included practical insights and recommendations aimed at supporting the university’s efforts to achieve advanced positions in international rankings

Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in a Workshop on Journal Citation Reports 2025

Al-Mustaqbal University took part in an informative workshop organized by Clarivate on Journal Citation Reports (JCR) – 2025 Release (2024 Data), delivered by Anas Obaid, Senior Customer Success Consultant. The workshop highlighted the most important updates introduced in the new release, including the addition of the Cited Half-life metric and the exclusion of citations from retracted or withdrawn publications in calculating the Journal Impact Factor (JIF). It also addressed the importance of safeguarding research integrity by tackling issues such as coercive citations, predatory journals, citation markets, and unethical authorship practices. In addition, participants were introduced to practical ways of utilizing JCR data, such as identifying suitable journals for publication, supporting academic libraries, and making evidence-based decisions regarding open access strategies. The workshop further demonstrated the integration of JCR data with research systems through APIs such as Web of Science and InCites. Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation in this workshop reflects its commitment to staying aligned with the latest developments in research evaluation and scholarly publishing, while reinforcing its position in advancing academic excellence and global rankings.
