Al-Mustaqbal University, ranked as the leading private university in Iraq, received a prestigious international recognition from UNESCO Iraq Office and the European Union in appreciation of its institutional excellence and pioneering role in supporting the fields of green economy and digital transformation. The recognition was presented during a specialized workshop held in Erbil on May 27, with the participation of academic institutions and international organizations concerned with sustainable development and digital innovation. Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies, were awarded high-level certificates of appreciation in recognition of the university’s outstanding efforts in promoting green economy initiatives and digital transformation, as well as advancing sustainability and technological innovation within higher education institutions. This distinguished recognition came following the university’s scientific presentations and active participation in the workshop, which reflected its significant achievements in sustainability projects and digital transformation initiatives, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). The workshop witnessed the attendance of representatives from UNESCO and the European Union, who highly praised the university’s leadership in developing sustainable academic initiatives and emphasized the importance of its pioneering experiences in modern technologies and green economy practices. Representatives of the international organizations also personally participated in presenting the certificates of appreciation in acknowledgment of the university’s remarkable contributions to sustainable development and digital transformation in Iraq. Al-Mustaqbal University was notably the only university officially invited and honored during this international workshop, reflecting its distinguished national standing and leadership in adopting sustainability-oriented and innovation-driven programs and projects.
