The Erasmus+ 2026 Programme has witnessed a distinguished participation by Iraqi universities, with several institutions securing high-quality projects within international academic cooperation programmes. This achievement reflects the growing level of Iraqi participation and the universities’ increasing openness to global academic partnerships. The results included the selection of two Iraqi projects under the Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) programme. The first was a regional project involving the University of Technology, focusing on modernizing engineering education, while the second was a cross-regional project involving the Universities of Nineveh and Samarra, addressing digital resilience in higher education during times of crisis. This represents an important step in expanding Iraq’s participation in cross-regional academic projects. The year 2026 also marked a significant return of Iraqi universities to Jean Monnet activities, with Al-Turath University securing a project addressing European Union law, artificial intelligence, and misinformation, alongside Al-Mustaqbal University, which was awarded the EU-One Health project focusing on European Union health policies. Al-Mustaqbal University’s successful selection for this project represents an important milestone that reflects its growing presence in international academic cooperation programmes, as well as its commitment to expanding global partnerships and participating in initiatives that integrate education, scientific research, and community service. These achievements demonstrate the continuous development of Iraqi universities and their growing ability to compete in international programmes, while highlighting the importance of expanding cooperation with global academic institutions to advance education and scientific research and promote knowledge exchange. This new achievement further reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to international cooperation, scientific research, and academic development, while strengthening its presence in global educational programmes and international academic forums.
