By: Asst. Lect. Abdullah Abbas Jaber/ The phenomenon of drug addiction among adolescents represents one of the most complex challenges threatening the security of contemporary societies. Here, "Media" emerges not merely as a channel for delivering news, but as a soft power and a strategic tool capable of fortifying the young generation against this imminent danger. Media plays a pivotal role in dismantling the "false mental image" that links substance abuse to happiness or escaping pressure. By producing digital content and reality programs that address adolescents in their modern language, real-life stories of suffering can be transformed into emotional and cognitive awareness lessons that deter them from falling into the trap of addiction. The role of media is not limited to "dry warnings"; it extends to promoting positive values such as self-confidence and responsibility, and providing vital alternatives that encourage youth to engage in sports and cultural activities, creating a psychological environment that repels all forms of deviance. Despite the positive power of media, it faces a serious challenge represented by "indirect promotion" through some irresponsible dramatic works. Therefore, it has become necessary to activate conscious oversight and direct content to be "constructive," supporting the efforts of educational and family institutions in early detection of addiction and providing therapeutic support. The battle against drugs requires "purposeful and deliberate" media that acts as a link between the family and the educational institution, ensuring the building of a conscious generation that possesses the will to confront and believes that media is the primary weapon of construction in protecting the fabric of society.
