Islamic jurisprudence affirms the status and dignity of women through the rulings it established to preserve their rights and protect their position within the family and society while taking into account the nature of the family and society and the distribution of responsibilities among its members Islamic jurisprudence has given great attention to women and affirmed a set of rights that preserve their dignity and maintain their status within the family and society These rights are consistent with the principle of human dignity established by Islam for all people Allah says And We have certainly honored the children of Adam Al Isra 70 Among the most important rights of women in Islamic jurisprudence is the right to life and dignity Islam forbids aggression against her or demeaning her It also granted her independent financial capacity She has the right to own and dispose of her wealth through lawful means and no one may take her wealth unjustly Among her rights as well is the right to dowry and maintenance The dowry is an exclusive right of the wife Allah says And give the women their dowries as a free gift An Nisa 4 Islamic jurisprudence also obligates the husband to provide for his wife in a reasonable manner including her basic needs according to his ability and custom Islam established for women the right to inheritance by assigning her a defined share of the estate according to the rules of inheritance It also granted her the right to marriage with the right to accept or reject within the Islamic rulings It protected her marital rights and made the relationship between spouses based on affection and mercy Allah says And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them and He placed between you affection and mercy Ar Rum 21 Islamic jurisprudence also emphasized the right of women to education and learning and to participation in social life within Islamic guidelines It affirmed her legal capacity to own to contract and to manage her financial affairs Therefore Islam granted women rights equal to those of men with some differences imposed by the nature of responsibilities and Islamic rulings Dr Murad Al Husseini College of Education #Al Mustaqbal _University _The_First_in_Iraq
