As part of its commitment to enhancing the educational process and improving assessment methods, the College of Pharmacy at Al-Mustaqbal University has developed a Skills Assessment Guide for Academic Courses. The guide serves as a structured reference outlining mechanisms for assessing students’ skills in theoretical, practical, and applied courses, in accordance with the nature of pharmacy education and the requirements of the academic program. The guide was developed under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Khalid Al-Dhalimi, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and followed up by Prof. Dr. Nada Khazal, Head of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the College. This reflects the College’s commitment to developing an integrated measurement and evaluation system and supporting the implementation of clear and systematic assessment methods. The guide covers several important areas, beginning with an overview of the College, including its vision, mission, and objectives, as well as the objectives of the Skills Assessment Guide and its assessment mechanisms. It also clarifies the roles and responsibilities of College officials in implementing assessment procedures, in addition to presenting the study system, academic program, program structure, and academic courses. The guide also outlines the assessment mechanisms for theoretical courses, including continuous assessment and final examinations, as well as the standards and requirements to be considered when preparing theoretical examination questions. It further addresses the procedures for grading theoretical courses. In addition, the guide covers the assessment mechanisms for practical and applied courses, including practical course assessment, field training, and the assessment of research projects (graduation projects). The guide includes a range of assessment forms, including essay questions, multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and answer sheets (bubble sheets), as well as forms for assessing practical courses, field training, and research projects. These forms contribute to organizing and standardizing assessment procedures. The Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the College plays an important role in monitoring and organizing measurement and evaluation procedures and contributing to the review of assessment tools and forms. This supports the implementation of accurate and systematic assessment methods, facilitates monitoring students’ performance levels, and contributes to the continuous development of the educational process. The development of this guide reaffirms the College of Pharmacy’s commitment at Al-Mustaqbal University to establishing an integrated assessment system that takes into account the nature of academic courses and the targeted skills. It also contributes to enhancing the quality of educational outcomes and preparing students with the knowledge and skills required in the field of pharmacy.
At its first meeting of the 2026–2027 academic year, held on September 19, 2026, and chaired by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the University Council reviewed the major achievements and outcomes accomplished during the 2025–2026 academic year, reflecting the University’s continued academic and research development and its growing local and international presence. The achievements included continued progress in quality assurance and academic accreditation. Several colleges and academic departments obtained institutional and programmatic accreditation, while the College of Pharmacy received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), reaffirming the University’s commitment to international academic quality standards. As part of its efforts to enhance the quality of education, the Measurement and Evaluation Unit continued to play an active role in monitoring and evaluating academic performance. The Unit also developed plans to organize workshops and training courses for staff and students, in addition to analyzing assessment and examination results and monitoring performance indicators. These efforts contribute to identifying strengths and areas for improvement and supporting the continuous enhancement of learning outcomes. The University also achieved success rates ranging from 80% to 100% in national ministerial assessment examinations across several disciplines, alongside continued growth in research output and academic visibility in national and international university rankings. The University further strengthened its initiatives in innovation, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development. Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi emphasized that the achievements of the 2025–2026 academic year represent an important milestone in the University’s journey, stressing the importance of building on these achievements through teamwork and a continued commitment to quality, innovation, and excellence. As the 2026–2027 academic year begins, Al-Mustaqbal University is entering a new phase of ambition, focusing on developing academic and research programs, strengthening measurement and evaluation practices, expanding international partnerships, and improving learning outcomes, further advancing the University’s journey toward greater quality and excellence.
Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new academic and environmental milestone, adding to its distinguished record of achievements, after securing 148th place globally in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for sustainable universities, further strengthening its presence in global rankings concerned with sustainability and institutional excellence. This achievement further enhances Al-Mustaqbal University’s position at both the local and international levels. The university ranked first among private universities and colleges in Iraq, third among all Iraqi public and private universities, and 82nd in Asia, with a total score of 8,475 points. The 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings witnessed broad international participation, with 2,016 universities from 110 countries included in the rankings. This highlights the significance of the university’s achievement and its continued progress in promoting sustainability practices and implementing sustainability standards in accordance with internationally recognized indicators. This achievement is the result of integrated efforts involving various university formations and units, supported by an institutional approach based on collecting, documenting, and analyzing data and preparing reports in accordance with approved indicators and standards. In this context, the Assessment and Evaluation Unit contributed to supporting the ranking requirements by monitoring relevant data and indicators, providing supporting data and documentary evidence, and preparing the necessary reports. These efforts enhanced the accuracy and completeness of the information and helped provide well-documented evidence of the university’s sustainability practices and achievements. The university’s efforts covered the key areas assessed by the ranking, including Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, Education and Research, as well as Governance and Digital Transformation. This reflects the comprehensive approach adopted by Al-Mustaqbal University to advancing sustainability across various aspects of university operations. This progress also reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to fostering a culture of quality, assessment and evaluation, and data-driven decision-making to support institutional development and improve performance, alongside strengthening sustainable development practices and transforming them into measurable, documented, and continuously monitored practices. The achievement further demonstrates Al-Mustaqbal University’s continued efforts to strengthen its presence in global rankings and consolidate its role as an educational institution committed to achieving academic excellence and institutional sustainability through integrated efforts across its various formations and units. The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Dr. Saleh Hussein Ali Al-Tamimi, received a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as part of a visit aimed at strengthening academic and scientific cooperation and following up on the affairs of Iraqi students and scholarship recipients at British universities. The meeting addressed the main challenges facing Iraqi students and scholarship recipients and ways to overcome them, in addition to discussing mechanisms for benefiting from the expertise and competencies of Iraqis in the United Kingdom, in a manner that contributes to supporting and developing higher education and scientific research. The visit also included a follow-up on the condition of the building housing the Iraqi Cultural Attaché’s Office in London, as well as discussions on ways to develop and rehabilitate it to enhance the efficiency of the office’s work and responsibilities, in coordination with the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the United Kingdom. Ambassador Al-Tamimi affirmed the Embassy’s commitment to continuing its support for Iraqi students and scholarship recipients and strengthening coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, contributing to providing a supportive environment for students, advancing higher education and scientific research, and serving the Iraqi academic community in the United Kingdom.
As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance international academic cooperation and expand its horizons in scientific research and smart development, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, accompanied by the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Dhalimi, and the Cultural Advisor in the United Kingdom, Prof. Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, paid an official visit to the prestigious University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. The visit included extensive and productive meetings with several officials and academic leaders at the University of Nottingham and its School of Pharmacy. Discussions focused on activating the strategic partnership between the two institutions and developing joint initiatives, including twinning programs, dual-degree programs, and collaborative research projects. This partnership holds exceptional significance given the distinguished reputation of both institutions. The School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham is ranked first in the UK and eighth globally, and it maintains a strategic partnership with the internationally renowned company Boots, a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare retail. This collaboration provides its graduates with extensive employment opportunities in leading international institutions and companies. Meanwhile, the College of Pharmacy at Al-Mustaqbal University is recognized as one of the leading pharmacy colleges in Iraq, having achieved a significant milestone by obtaining ACPE accreditation for pharmaceutical education, reflecting the alignment of its curriculum and academic infrastructure with the highest international standards. As a culmination of these fruitful meetings, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed between Al-Mustaqbal University and the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham. The agreement aims to establish strong foundations for academic and research cooperation, facilitate the exchange of expertise among faculty members and researchers, and create new opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the fields of pharmaceutical sciences and biotechnology.
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi and the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University, the College conducted the first joint examination for second-year students in cooperation with the College of Medicine / University of Babylon. The examination was attended by the University President, the assistants, and members of the Joint Examination Committee from the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon. This examination was organized as part of strengthening academic cooperation between Iraqi medical colleges and enhancing the scientific and academic standards of students in line with the quality requirements adopted in medical education. It also reflects the commitment to supporting academic development and exchanging expertise among educational institutions. The examination process was conducted smoothly and in an organized manner, as the College provided all the necessary logistical and technical requirements while implementing all appropriate procedures and arrangements to ensure the success of the examination and provide a suitable environment for students. The process was supervised directly by the examination and administrative committees. The examination also witnessed the presence and follow-up of university officials and academic committee members, who praised the high level of organization and coordination between both institutions, emphasizing the importance of joint examinations in enhancing academic integrity and evaluating students according to unified standards that contribute to the development of the educational and examination process.
On the morning of Tuesday, 12-5-2026, the College of Pharmacy at Al-Mustaqbal University conducted the standardized examination for third-stage students in the subject of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, in a well-organized academic atmosphere under the direct supervision of the examination committees and teaching staff. The examination halls witnessed a smooth and organized process, with all necessary requirements and procedures provided to ensure that students performed their exams in a suitable and orderly environment, reflecting the college’s commitment to applying approved academic standards in the examination process. Several students indicated that the exam questions ranged from moderate to difficult and covered the main topics of the subject in accordance with the approved curriculum. This examination comes within the framework of monitoring the scientific and academic level of students and enhancing the quality of education and assessment at Al-Mustaqbal University.
The College of Pharmacy at Al-Mustaqbal University conducted the Medical Microbiology examination for second-year students on the morning of Sunday, 10/5/2026, as part of the final examination schedule for the current academic year, under the direct supervision of the examination and organizational committees of the college. The examination halls witnessed a well-organized and smooth process regarding students’ entry and seating arrangements, alongside full adherence to the approved examination regulations and instructions, contributing to the provision of a suitable academic environment that enabled students to complete their exams comfortably and efficiently. The examination questions covered various scientific topics related to the prescribed curriculum and were of a moderate level, taking into consideration the individual differences among students while evaluating their understanding of the course material throughout the semester, in accordance with the academic standards adopted by the college. In addition, the teaching staff and specialized committees continuously monitored the progress of the examination to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination process and to address any observations promptly, reflecting the College of Pharmacy’s commitment at Al-Mustaqbal University to providing an appropriate academic environment that supports the educational process and enhances the quality of examinations.
