Advanced Software Applications: Engineering Students Complete Comprehensive Solar System Simulation Using Global PVsyst Software

Students from the College of Engineering Technology at Al-Mustaqbal University continued their intensive summer internship program at the headquarters of "Wadi Al-Qarn for Engineering Solutions." Under the direct scientific and technical supervision of the Al-Mustaqbal University Center for Energy Research (MUCE), the training advanced in its second day to the stage of advanced engineering and software application, building upon the foundational workshops completed on day one. The second day’s agenda featured a highly specialized technical focus, where students conducted a comprehensive, practical case study to design a photovoltaic (PV) solar energy system from the ground up to production. This was achieved using the renowned PVsyst software, which is recognized globally as one of the most powerful tools utilized by engineers for the simulation and design of alternative energy systems. The software training included preparing a detailed and comprehensive engineering report for the project. This report covered calculating the Total Energy Yield, analyzing the Loss Diagram, and studying the system's efficiency and performance across all months of the year based on climate data and solar radiation rates in the region, as well as determining the optimal tilt angles to ensure the highest possible operational productivity. At the conclusion of the second day, supervisors from MUCE and engineers from Wadi Al-Qarn praised the speed and high efficiency demonstrated by the engineering students in mastering the PVsyst tools and applying engineering equations accurately, confirming that these outcomes promise the birth of a new generation of engineers capable of leading renewable energy projects with confidence and competence.
