Participation in the Second Preparatory Meeting for the Visit of the Ministries of Higher Education and Environment Delegations – “First Sustainable University in Iraq” Award | Date: July 19

As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to meet the national and global standards of environmental and academic sustainability, Prof. Dr. Salwan Ubaid Waheed Khafaji, Director of the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research, participated in the second official meeting of the central committee assigned to prepare for the upcoming visit of the evaluation delegations from the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Environment, held on July 19, 2025. 🏛️ The meeting focused on reviewing the essential sustainability criteria and institutional requirements needed to qualify for the “First Sustainable University in Iraq” award. Field Visit by the Director of the Energy Research Center Accompanied by the Head of the Power Mechanics Department and the Quality Assurance Representative | As Part of the “First Sustainable University in Iraq” Project | Date: July 19

As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s comprehensive efforts to implement the highest standards of environmental and academic sustainability, Prof. Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed Khafaji, Director of the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research, conducted a field inspection inside the center on July 19, 2025, accompanied by the Head of the Power Mechanics Department and a representative from the University’s Quality Assurance Division. 🏢 The visit aimed to conduct a firsthand evaluation of the center’s infrastructure, operational practices, and contributions to sustainability, while reviewing ongoing initiatives in renewable energy, efficient resource management, and environmentally responsible operations. 🌱 During the tour, the Director highlighted several key initiatives, including: ▪️ The use of solar energy systems to power the center ▪️ Implementation of electricity and water conservation systems ▪️ Eco-friendly management of technical and research waste ▪️ Collaboration with other departments to build a comprehensive “Green Center” concept 🗣️ Prof. Dr. Salwan emphasized that this field visit represents a crucial part of the evidence-based documentation required to demonstrate the center’s active role in achieving sustainable development standards, and stressed the need for continued collaboration among academic and administrative units to establish sustainability as a core institutional value. 🌍 These efforts are part of the Center’s broader commitment to supporting the university’s vision for sustainability and positioning Al-Mustaqbal University as a leader in green transformation, clean energy innovation, and environmental excellence, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national environmental strategies.

Participation in an Advanced Online Workshop Entitled: “SCImago Workshop – Session 1: SIR Ranking – Source and Methodology” | Date: July 17

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its academic and research presence both locally and internationally, Prof. Dr. Sulwan Ubaid Waheed, Director of the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research, participated in a specialized international online workshop held on July 17, 2025, under the title: “SCImago Workshop – Session 1: SIR Ranking: Source and Methodology.” 📊 The workshop focused on the methodologies used by the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) and SCImago Journal Rankings (SJR) in evaluating and ranking research institutions and journals. Key topics discussed included: ▪️ Number and quality of scientific citations ▪️ Type and impact of published research in indexed journals ▪️ Level of international research collaboration ▪️ Research and social impact indicators ▪️ Data sources such as the Scopus database and others 🌍 The session highlighted the critical role of these rankings in shaping the global reputation of research institutions and how such indicators support strategic decision-making and policy development. 🔍 Participants were also introduced to practical steps institutions can take to improve their research performance, including establishing clear scientific publishing policies, promoting interdisciplinary research, and fostering effective international partnerships. 🗣️ During his participation, Prof. Dr. Sulwan Ubaid Waheed emphasized the importance of such specialized workshops in empowering academic leadership to understand global ranking frameworks and how to strategically influence them. As part of its commitment to staying at the forefront of scientific and technological advancement, Prof. Dr. Sulwan Ubaid Waheed, Director of the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research, participated in an online workshop held on July 17, 2025, entitled: “Waste Management and the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Recycling Processes.” 🧠 The workshop focused on the importance of integrating AI technologies into modern recycling industries, highlighting how artificial intelligence enhances efficiency, reduces waste, and increases accuracy in waste processing systems. The speaker elaborated on the key differences between traditional recycling methods, which depend on human monitoring, and modern AI-powered systems, which rely on automated data analysis and smart control. ♻️ Key stages in the waste treatment process were also discussed, including: ▪️ Aeration Tank ▪️ Primary Clarifier ▪️ Secondary Clarifier with an explanation of how each stage contributes to separating organic materials and removing contaminants. 🗣️ Prof. Dr. Sulwan emphasized the strategic importance of adopting artificial intelligence to improve recycling system efficiency and the need to support scientific research in this field, especially in light of growing environmental challenges and the global shift towards green technologies and smart sustainability. 📚 This participation is part of a broader scientific engagement strategy by the Center to strengthen its capabilities in sustainable energy and environmental resource management, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and Iraq’s future vision for environmental innovation.

Attendance of an Online Lecture Entitled: “Create an Interactive Dashboard Using Power BI” | Date: July 9

As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the technical and administrative skills at the Energy Research Center, several center members participated in a specialized online lecture held on July 9, 2025, titled: “Create an Interactive Dashboard Using Power BI.” 📊 The lecture focused on detailed instructions for designing and building interactive dashboards using Power BI, one of the leading data visualization and analytics tools that facilitates data-driven decision-making. Topics covered included: ▪️ Steps for building a comprehensive dashboard ▪️ Use of interactive filters and indicators ▪️ Integration of multiple data sources ▪️ Visual representation techniques for easy data interpretation 🖥️ Practical real-world examples were demonstrated to equip participants with hands-on skills in transforming raw data into interactive reports that enhance institutional effectiveness. 🗣️ The presenter emphasized the critical role of technical empowerment for research and administrative teams in improving report quality and enabling rapid, accurate data analysis.

Achievements of Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research

Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research is pleased to announce its outstanding accomplishments in scientific research during this year.
