A lecture entitled (Engineer s Work on Work Sites)

As part of efforts to enhance the practical and knowledge-based aspects for engineers and students, Consulting Engineer Salim Jassim Mahmoud Al-Rubaie delivered a specialized field lecture titled (The Engineer’s Work on Construction Sites), in which he presented the essence of his extensive field experience, highlighting the vital role played by engineers during the implementation phases of projects—from reading blueprints and assigning tasks, to directly supervising work, monitoring the quality of materials and execution, and finally preparing technical reports and coordinating with relevant parties. In his lecture, he addressed the main challenges engineers face on-site and how to deal with them professionally to ensure the highest levels of quality and safety, emphasizing the importance of daily follow-ups, quantity control, and monitoring the commitment of technical teams to engineering procedures and professional standards. The lecture was met with great engagement from the attendees due to the real-life examples and valuable practical advice it included, which helped transfer knowledge from the classroom to the field. This comes within a vision that seeks to prepare engineering cadres capable of achievement and competitiveness in the labor market.

The second lecture of today is entitled (Elevator Design, Mechanical and Electrical)

As part of the summer training program for students of the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, a practical on-site lecture was organized under the title (Design of Elevators: Mechanical and Electrical Types) at the work site inside the BDC Mall project.** The lecture was delivered in a practical and applied manner, during which the components of elevators were explained from both mechanical and electrical perspectives, along with the design and implementation mechanisms. The lecture also clarified the most important technical standards that must be taken into account during installation and operation. Moreover, the session highlighted the safety and security requirements related to elevator systems, and how coordination is carried out between the design engineer and the executing parties during all stages of the project. The lecture was distinguished by the active participation of students, who engaged with the scientific content and direct field explanations, adding a practical dimension that enhances their theoretical understanding and provides them with real-world experience. This field activity was attended by the Center Director, Professor Dr. Sulwan Ubaid Waheed, in affirmation of the Center’s support for field training activities that contribute to developing students’ skills and preparing them for the labor market. This activity is part of a series of field lectures that the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research is keen to organize, aiming to qualify the new generation of engineers and enable them to bridge the gap between academic study and practical application

The third lecture for today (control and command systems and electrical control panels)

As part of the summer training program for students of the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, a specialized field lecture was held under the title: (Control Systems and Electrical Control Panels for the Entire Building). The lecture was delivered by Engineer Salah Mahdi Aboud at an actual work site and in a practical manner aimed at enhancing the students’ hands-on experience. During the lecture, Engineer Salah addressed the design and operation mechanisms of control systems used in modern buildings, including lighting systems, elevators, water pumps, air conditioning, alarms, and emergency systems. He provided a detailed explanation of the technical functions of various electrical panels (MDB, SMDB, DB), how electrical loads are distributed, and how proper protection is ensured for each system. The lecture also covered reading electrical schematics and connecting them to real-world implementation, understanding the components of control panels, mechanisms of manual and automatic control, in addition to programming concepts using PLC systems and the integration of smart panels into modern building systems. The session was marked by strong student engagement, as they raised a number of questions reflecting their interest in delving deeper into this vital field and their eagerness to understand the relationship between design, implementation, and the actual operation of electrical systems. The activity was attended by the Director of the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research, Professor Dr. Sulwan Ubaid Waheed, who affirmed the Center’s continuous support for such field-based initiatives, which aim to prepare students for the job market by integrating theoretical study with practical application at real work sites.
