Almustaqbal Energy Research Center Follows Up on Student Project on Photovoltaic Panel Performance

Almustaqbal Energy Research Center followed up on part of a student research project aimed at evaluating the performance of photovoltaic panels in rural and urban environments as part of its efforts to support applied research activities for engineering students. The project focuses on studying the differences in solar system performance between rural and urban areas by analyzing the impact of environmental factors such as solar irradiation, temperature, dust levels, and pollution, and how these factors affect the efficiency of photovoltaic energy production. The follow-up also included reviewing the data collection methods and measurement procedures conducted by the students, as well as discussing the preliminary results and providing scientific guidance to improve the research work and enhance the accuracy of the analysis. This activity reflects the center’s commitment to supporting student projects and strengthening practical and research skills in the field of renewable energy.

Establishment of a Photovoltaic and Electrical Energy Laboratory at Al-Mustaqbal University

As part of its efforts to enhance practical education and strengthen scientific infrastructure, Al-Mustaqbal University has established a Photovoltaic and Electrical Energy Laboratory to serve as a specialized platform for student training and practical workshops in the field of renewable energy. The laboratory was established under the supervision of Almustaqbal Energy Research Center and with the support of the Dean of the Engineering Technical College, Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, with the aim of supporting training and research activities and enhancing the practical skills of students in solar energy systems and electrical engineering applications. The laboratory will be utilized for organizing training workshops and specialized courses related to the design, operation, and maintenance of photovoltaic systems, in addition to conducting practical experiments and maintenance activities related to solar energy systems within the university. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to developing students’ capabilities and providing an advanced educational environment that keeps pace with modern developments in renewable energy technologies.

Almustaqbal Energy Research Center took part in the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week hosted by جامعة المستقبل from February 8–12, 2026, with broad participation from academics, researchers, and students. The Center’s participation featured a dedicated booth where it showcased its most prominent research and applied projects in the field of renewable energy. The exhibition highlighted innovative solutions in solar energy technologies, energy efficiency systems, and sustainable environmental initiatives aimed at supporting the transition toward clean and renewable energy sources. The Center’s booth attracted a significant number of visitors, including guests and students, who explored project models and visual demonstrations. The research team provided detailed explanations about the technologies on display and their practical applications, emphasizing their role in meeting local market needs and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship within the energy sector. Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center concluded its MATLAB Fundamentals for Engineering Applications course today with the final lecture, part of the second semester's curriculum of courses and workshops. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Ali Nael Hassan, a Master's researcher in Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of Baghdad. The final lecture covered the course's main topics, focusing on graphing and its engineering applications, along with a comprehensive review of the fundamental concepts covered in previous lectures. The course saw excellent engagement from participating students, whose skills were enhanced through the course's content. The lectures strengthened their programming and application skills, supporting their ability to use MATLAB in engineering and research applications. This course is part of the Almustaqbal Center for Energy Research's ongoing efforts to develop students' skills and equip them with modern software tools to meet the demands of academic study and the job market. These efforts will be complemented by future courses and workshops in various scientific and technical fields.

Director of Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center Participates in Coordination Meeting for Global Entrepreneurship Week

As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s preparations to take part in Global Entrepreneurship Week, scheduled to begin in the second week of February 2026 under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, a coordination meeting was held to organize and implement the university’s participation program for this international event. The meeting witnessed the participation of Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed, Director of Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research, along with the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, and representatives of the relevant divisions, units, and colleges. During the meeting, the detailed program of planned activities was reviewed, including the official opening ceremony, specialized scientific seminars, training workshops, student exhibitions, and panel discussions. These activities aim to promote a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among students and to strengthen partnerships between the university, the labor market, and the community. Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center Participates in International Meeting to Discuss Mechanisms for Joint University Cooperation

The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, participated in the online meeting organized by the EURAS network, which brought together a group of European and Asian universities to discuss mechanisms for joint cooperation among universities and higher education institutions. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed, Director of the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research; Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering Technology; and Dr. Mudhaffar Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision at Al-Mustaqbal University. Their participation reflects the University’s and its research centers’ commitment to strengthening international presence and expanding academic partnerships. Discussions focused on enhancing academic and scientific partnerships, developing cooperation programs in the field of scientific research, exchanging expertise, and exploring opportunities to implement joint projects that contribute to advancing the academic and institutional performance of member universities. At the conclusion of the meeting, participants agreed on the importance of continued coordination and the necessity of holding further meetings in the coming period to develop a clear roadmap for this cooperation and to define future priorities and areas of work. As part of the second semester's courses and workshops, Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center at Al-Mustaqbal University continued its MATLAB Fundamentals for Engineering Applications course lectures. Today, the second lecture of the course was held. The lecture was delivered by Professor Ali Nael Hassan, MSc in Renewable Energy Engineering, University of Baghdad. The lecture covered the fundamentals of programming in MATLAB, with a practical demonstration of how to work with programming commands, variables, and build basic code that forms the basis for future engineering applications. The lecture witnessed positive interaction from the participating students in a learning environment aimed at enhancing the practical and applied aspects, contributing to the development of the participants' programming skills and supporting their academic journey. Launch of the First Lecture of the MATLAB Fundamentals for Engineering Applications Course at Al-Mustaqbal University

Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies, Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, and with direct follow-up from the Director of Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center, Dr. Salwan Obeid Waheed, the first lecture of the MATLAB Fundamentals for Engineering Applications course was launched today. The course is part of the second semester training program organized by Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center at Al-Mustaqbal University. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Ali Nael Hassan, a Master’s researcher in Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of Baghdad. The session included a practical explanation of MATLAB installation procedures, along with a comprehensive introduction to the software and its importance in engineering and scientific applications. The lecture also featured a scientific contribution from Dr. Salwan Obeid Waheed, who highlighted the significance of MATLAB in engineering research and practical applications.
