Department of Cultural Relations

The Cultural Relationships Department is affiliated to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Department is responsible for establishing and developing scientific and academic cultural exchange programs and organizing the memorandums of understanding with universities and institutions of mutual interest. Among the department's main tasks is raising the scientific, educational, and professional competence of faculty staff, and other technical and administrative staff in the university. This is achieved through facilitating the participation of all staff in their participation in local, regional and international scientific and cultural activities. Most of such participation are implemented under the umbrella of the signed memorandums of understanding with universities, organizations, unions, and bodies related .to education, culture, and science

Al-Mustaqbal University Students Conclude Participation in Specialized Training Course at Razi University in Kermanshah.

The specialized training course attended by students from the Department of Forensic Sciences at the College of Science, Al-Mustaqbal University, has concluded at Razi University in Kermanshah, Islamic Republic of Iran. The programme represented a valuable academic training experience that reflected the depth of academic cooperation and international engagement between the two universities. The closing activities of the course included the presentation of Certificates of Participation, officially approved and signed by the International Office and the Department of Life Sciences at Razi University, in recognition of the students’ participation and successful completion of the 12-hour training programme, held under the title: “From Crime Scene to Laboratory: Applying the Life Sciences to Forensic Analysis” The training programme covered specialised topics addressing the applications of life sciences in forensic analysis, contributing to the enhancement of students’ scientific knowledge and practical skills while bridging academic learning with laboratory applications in the field of forensic sciences. On the occasion of the certificate presentation ceremony, an extended meeting was held in the presence of Prof. Dr. Shahab Moradkhani, Director of the International Affairs Office at Razi University; Prof. Dr. Dhargham Ali Abbas, Head of the Department of Forensic Sciences at Al-Mustaqbal University; and Dr. Maytham Nabeel Miqdad, Rapporteur of the Department of Smart Medical Systems and Coordinator and Supervisor of the training course, along with the participating students. The meeting provided an opportunity for direct dialogue with the students, during which their views and impressions regarding the course content, training quality, and laboratory experience were discussed. The participants also exchanged a number of suggestions and ideas aimed at developing future training programmes and joint scientific initiatives. The meeting also featured expressions of appreciation and gratitude. Dr. Shahab Moradkhani commended the high level of commitment, discipline, and active participation demonstrated by Al-Mustaqbal University students throughout the course. In turn, the Iraqi delegation expressed its sincere appreciation to Razi University and its International Affairs Office for the warm welcome, effective organisation, and generous hospitality, as well as for providing a supportive academic and training environment that contributed to the success of the programme. Al-Mustaqbal University -Concludes Erasmus+ Workshop- Organized by the EU Delegation in Iraq with Participation from Universities across the Middle Euphrates Region

Al-Mustaqbal University concluded a specialized training workshop on Erasmus+ programs and grants, organized by the European Union Delegation in Iraq in cooperation with the Department of International and Arab Organizations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The workshop brought together representatives of public and private universities across the Middle Euphrates region and was attended by Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University. The third and final day featured specialized training and dialogue sessions addressing Erasmus Mundus opportunities for students and academics, key application requirements, university partnerships, and the preparation of joint Master’s program proposals, supporting international academic cooperation and the development of joint educational programs. Sessions also highlighted universities’ role in promoting Erasmus+ opportunities and supporting students in preparing applications. Participants discussed key challenges facing Iraqi universities in engaging with these programs and explored practical steps to address them and strengthen institutional readiness to develop and submit competitive projects and proposals. During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi stressed the importance of moving beyond awareness of Erasmus+ toward transforming available opportunities into practical international partnerships and implementable projects, while using the training outcomes to strengthen Iraqi universities’ capacities and enhance their engagement in European academic and research cooperation programs. Held over three days, the workshop covered Erasmus+ opportunities, institutional capacity building, competitive international project development, International Credit Mobility (ICM), student exchange, administrative and financial aspects of European projects, and Jean Monnet grant applications. EU Delegation in Iraq Continues Erasmus+.. Workshop at Al-Mustaqbal University for a Second Day: Turning Training into High-Impact Projects.

The specialized workshop at Al-Mustaqbal University on strengthening institutional capacity and expanding access to European Union Erasmus+ programmes continued for a second day. Organized by the European Union Delegation in Iraq in cooperation with the Department of International and Arab Organizations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the workshop brings together representatives of public and private universities from the Middle Euphrates region, supporting the internationalization of higher education and Iraqi universities’ engagement in international projects. The second day opened with remarks by Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, representing Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University. He stressed the importance of turning the workshop’s training outcomes into practical action by developing high-quality projects that respond to university and community needs, strengthen institutional and academic performance, create meaningful community impact, and advance the internationalization of higher education in Iraq. The sessions continued with International Credit Mobility (ICM), focusing on student exchange mechanisms and their implementation in line with Iraqi academic regulations, including the recognition of students’ study periods at European universities as part of their approved study periods in Iraq. The workshop also addressed the administrative and financial aspects of EU-funded projects, including the Ministry’s approval for Iraqi public universities to open foreign-currency accounts for managing and implementing EU-funded initiatives, including Erasmus+ projects. Another session introduced Jean Monnet Projects, highlighting their objectives, application mechanisms and preparation requirements. The experiences of Al-Mustaqbal University and Al-Turath University were presented as Iraqi success stories in securing grants under this strand, offering practical models for developing competitive proposals. The day featured active participation through questions, discussions and proposals covering the academic, administrative and technical dimensions of Erasmus+. Al-Mustaqbal University trainees also contributed actively, particularly on university registration, establishing an institutional presence on the EU platform, and designating university representatives for proposed projects. EU Delegation in Iraq and Ministry of Higher Education Host Specialized -Erasmus+ Workshop- at Al-Mustaqbal University.

As part of efforts to strengthen academic cooperation and expand Iraqi universities’ engagement with European Union programmes, the EU Delegation in Iraq, in cooperation with the Department of International and Arab Organizations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held a specialized training workshop at Al-Mustaqbal University on institutional capacity building and maximizing opportunities offered by Erasmus+, with the participation of public and private universities from the Middle Euphrates region. The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University; Prof. Dr. Muwaffaq Sajit, Director of the Department of International and Arab Organizations at the Ministry; Ms. Asmaa Al-Smadi, Project Manager at the Erasmus+ National Office in Jordan; as well as cultural relations directors, Erasmus+ coordinators, and university deans and department heads. The opening address, delivered on behalf of the University by Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, emphasized the importance of international cooperation in advancing education, research, and institutional capacity, while international programmes create broader opportunities for students, researchers, and faculty. Prof. Dr. Al-Zuhairy highlighted the University’s growing engagement with EU programmes and international projects, noting its recent success in securing a Jean Monnet grant under Erasmus+, marking another step towards strengthening its European and international academic engagement. Prof. Dr. Muwaffaq Sajit highlighted the workshop’s role in advancing the internationalization of Iraqi higher education, introducing Erasmus+ funding opportunities and application mechanisms, and enabling universities to develop competitive projects and expand international academic and research cooperation. In a statement to the University Media Office, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi said that hosting the workshop reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to strengthening its international presence, building effective academic partnerships, and fostering a culture of international projects that enhances staff capacities and opens new avenues for scientific and research cooperation.
