As part of its efforts to strengthen international academic cooperation, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, visited the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) in the United Kingdom to learn more about the international training program designed for the university’s students in the fields of digital systems and artificial intelligence During the visit, the University President presented the Al-Mustaqbal University Shield to the representative of the academic leadership at UWE Bristol in recognition of her role in supporting the training program and developing students’ skills Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing their cooperation and expanding academic, training, and research partnerships in ways that serve students and enhance their readiness for the demands of the global labor market
Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new research milestone by registering 21 new scientific papers in the global Scopus database during the period from August 21 to 27, 2026, according to the bibliometric and statistical analysis conducted by the university on its weekly research output The President of Al-Mustaqbal University noted that the analysis results showed that 76.2% of the indexed papers, totaling 16 papers, were published through open-access models (Gold, Hybrid, and Green). The average number of researchers per paper reached 7.29, reflecting the growing level of collaborative research The medical field ranked first among the disciplines with 9 papers, followed by Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology with 7 papers, Engineering with 5 papers, and Computer Science with 4 papers, in addition to research contributions across several other scientific disciplines At the level of international collaboration, research partnerships extended to 10 countries, led by Egypt, Iran, and Saudi Arabia, alongside China, Jordan, Pakistan, Türkiye, Hungary, India, and Malaysia, in addition to continued collaboration with a number of Iraqi and international universities The research papers were also published by leading global scientific publishers, including Nature Research, Elsevier, and Frontiers Media, reflecting the growing presence of the university’s research output in international databases and scientific journals This achievement reaffirms Al-Mustaqbal University’s continued efforts to strengthen its research standing and enhance the presence of Iraqi researchers within the global knowledge ecosystem, in line with its commitment to advancing scientific research and expanding international academic partnerships
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced the launch of the first phase of the Iraqi Research Management System (iRMS – Iraq Research Management System), as part of its efforts to develop the scientific research system and unify data and information related to Iraqi researchers and scholarly output within a unified national platform In this context, the university calls on all faculty members and researchers to access the iRMS platform, activate their accounts, and benefit from the services provided by the system for managing and updating their research profiles The system can be accessed using the same account credentials adopted for the iQ Learn platform, without the need to create a new account The activation process involves accessing the Researcher Profile, reviewing the listed research data and information, verifying its accuracy, making any necessary amendments or additions when required, and continuously updating the research profile The launch of the system comes as part of efforts to establish a unified national database for scientific research, enhance the visibility of Iraqi researchers’ scholarly output, and provide accurate data that contributes to supporting planning and decision-making and advancing scientific research in Iraq Accordingly, the university emphasizes the importance of all faculty members and researchers taking the initiative to activate their accounts, verify their research data, and update their profiles regularly, thereby contributing to the successful implementation of the system and the achievement of its objectives
Within the framework of Al-Mustaqbal University’s active academic presence and its ongoing support for scientific research, Prof. Dr. Tariq Jawad Kadhim, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department at Al-Mustaqbal University, participated as a member of the Master’s thesis defense committee in the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technologies / Environmental Engineering at Al-Musayyab Technical College. The thesis was submitted by the student Zainab Ali Sukheil The defense was attended and participated in by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision at Al-Mustaqbal University, who served as a supervising member of the defense committee The thesis was entitled “Evaluating the Possibility of Reusing Effluent Wastewater from the Main Wastewater Treatment Plant in Karbala for Irrigation” The study evaluated the possibility of reusing treated wastewater effluent from the main wastewater treatment plant in Karbala for irrigation purposes by analyzing and comparing a number of physical, chemical, and organic indicators based on Iraqi, regional, and international standards The thesis also examined the suitability of treated water for agricultural use during the summer and winter seasons. The study concluded that adopting flexible irrigation policies that take seasonal variations into account is essential for ensuring the safe and sustainable use of treated water, particularly in light of drought challenges and the growing need to develop water resources At the conclusion of the defense, the committee decided to award the student Zainab Ali Sukheil a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering with Excellent grade, in recognition of her scientific efforts, the quality of her thesis, and the significance of its findings and recommendations in the field of sustainable water management and addressing environmental challenges The defense committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Nabeel Hamid Abdulmajeed from Al-Musayyab Technical College as Chair, with Prof. Dr. Tariq Jawad Kadhim, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department at Al-Mustaqbal University; Assistant Prof. Dr. Ali Adel Abdulwahid from Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University; and Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision at Al-Mustaqbal University, as a supervising member This participation reaffirms the scientific and academic role played by Al-Mustaqbal University and highlights the active involvement of its academic staff in thesis defense committees and academic supervision, further strengthening the University’s contributions to supporting scientific research and promoting the exchange of academic expertise at the national level
Al-Mustaqbal University held a coordination meeting today with representatives of the Applied Science Private University in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to explore ways of strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between the two institutions. The meeting was conducted as part of the University's strategy to expand its international partnerships, advance education and scientific research, and promote the exchange of expertise in line with global developments The meeting, attended by representatives from both universities, addressed several strategic areas of cooperation, including collaboration in international university rankings and global academic accreditation, the development of training programs for students in medical and scientific colleges, and the organization of joint scientific conferences beginning in 2027. The discussions also covered opportunities for cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence and science parks, as well as the organization of reciprocal academic and student exchange visits Both parties agreed to arrange an official visit by a delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University to the Applied Science Private University, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement is expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation and broaden the scope of partnership between the two institutions The meeting reflects Al-Mustaqbal University's ongoing commitment to establishing effective academic partnerships with leading Arab and international universities in order to enhance the quality of education, promote scientific research, and further strengthen the University's position in international rankings and academic accreditation At the conclusion of the meeting, the Al-Mustaqbal University delegation expressed its sincere appreciation to Professor Wameed Hadi Talib, Dean of the Faculty of Supporting Sciences, and Dr. Aseel Abu Al-Rub, Head of International Agreements, for their dedication to establishing a genuine academic partnership that serves students and researchers while fostering scientific collaboration between the two universities

This enables the University to align its research practices with international standards and further strengthen its position as one of the leading universities in supporting scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation
